Jaime in Hawaii in July: Self-care Shopping in Oahu

Today is considered a self-care day with shopping at my favorite malls in Oahu. Although the International Marketplace in Waikiki with a 100 year old banyan tree in the middle is my favorite here because it has all the ritzy accessories, swanky fashion boutiques, and over 90 specialty shops, we went to my next two favorite shopping stops on the island. The first stop was the Ala Moana Center which is a three-story outdoor shopping center in Honolulu, HI. This mall is not too far from the marketplace, is easier to get to, and has a bunch more shops with over 290 stores, making it the ninth largest mall in America. We wanted to check out our favorite mall shops for the latest fashions, have some snacks, and headed to the next stop.

My favorite place to shop on the island is the Waikele Premium Outlets where I stock up on all of last year’s fashion that they no longer sell at top price. With prices slashed more than half of retail value, I learned that most shops have a difficult time selling bigger clothing items due to the small-sized Asian communities that live here, so they mark down the items to practically give them away! When I first visited the outlets four years ago, I scored on about five pairs of size 10 Michael Kors slippers (flip-flops) for women, as well as some clothes, backpacks, and shoes from Converse. Each time I visit, I find similar treasures and get to update my colorful slipper wardrobe. Another item I like to stock up on are their leather jackets that just don’t sell well here on the islands, but I didn’t grab any on this trip. This time, I totally scored on six pairs of Michael Kors flip flops with Jaime in Hawaii in July.
