Greetings, I’m Dr. Jaime Brainerd, E.d.D. I was born and raised in the rural wooded waterways and farming areas of the Pacific Northwest. Then, I spent my adulthood working and playing in the urban and beach’n parts of Southern California. Most days you can find me reading and writing or traveling from state to state with my home base in Oregon. In 2018, I made the intention to do what I love as my job. I have been transitioning from teaching K-8 and college students, to authoring while traveling and educating the world.
I am mostly known as a teacher, a lifelong learner who discovered that you learn more when you teach. When I was in the first grade, I knew I was going to be an educator and started learning everything I could about teaching. I am still here decades later on the same mission, but taking education to new levels through my nonprofit, Global Alternative Learning Systems (G.A.L.S.).
People often refer to me as a friend, sister (from another mister), coach, beauty consultant, financial advisor, teacher, “Miss,” or Miss Brainerd. Dr. Jaime Brainerd is still a new name to others and myself, since I graduated in March 2020. In September of 2020, I added, “USA traveler” to my list of names (I visited 49/50 states in one year, during a pandemic).
I love serving the world by speaking truth through my B.R.E.A.T.H.S. blogs. I took seven things I am passionate about: beauty, reading, education (financial), art, travel, health, and self-care. Then, I post stories under each category about how I manage my life by creating new things, sharing what I learn, and showing love for others (including myself).
Currently, I am working on creating the foundation for my nonprofit, Global Alternative Learning Systems (G.A.L.S.) in a book that I will self publish and distribute to communities by the end of this year, 2022. I have put my website on hold so that I can focus on one thing at a time. However, I am also working on revamping both websites (personal blogs/G.A.L.S.), learning about email list building, content creating, managing WordPress, and online marketing skills.
When I am not busy working on G.A.L.S., you can catch me creating art, reading/listening to Hay House Books, writing, loving, moving in nature, and listening to music. Going out with friends and family, playing sports, BBQs, attending concerts, or watching movies is how I like to spend most of my time. Other times, I love to travel all over by myself, meeting new friends, trying new cuisines, and learning more about different cultures.
If you’re dying to hear more, here are five things you might not know about me:
- Tie-dye is my favorite on clothes/shoes, especially blue.
- Since 2016, I have been a BIG fan of L.A. Rams Football, when they moved back to where I was living at the time.
- January 9th this year, I wore a tie-dye blue Rams outfit to Sofi Stadium, their last regular game of the season against the San Francisco 49’ers. The Rams lost that game, but most people know how that turned out at the end of the season anyway! Congratulations Super Bowl Champions, LA Rams!
- SongPop 2 has been my daily digital vice since 2012.
- I collect National Parks Passport Stamps when I visit each park. I have visited about 130/420 National Parks across the United States (About 120 parks during the pandemic).
